Why D2R Players Save the Ith Rune | U4gm
In D2R, Ith is a low rune with a couple of practical uses, but it is not part of Stealth. That Runeword takes Tal and Eth, so don't spend time waiting for an Ith to finish an early leveling setup. Keep one if you're saving runes for later recipes or planning your equipment around D2R Ladder Items; otherwise, its value depends on what you're building, not how rare it feels when it drops.
What is the Ith Rune used for in D2R
Ith has a place in the Enigma Runeword, alongside Jah and Ber. That makes it relevant to a high-end armor recipe, even though the other runes are the real hurdle. Finding Ith early can feel like progress toward a major item, but it won't get you close to completing Enigma by itself.
Ith can also be socketed directly into equipment. In a weapon, it adds maximum damage; in armor or a helm, it converts some damage taken into mana; in a shield, it has the same mana effect. Those are situational bonuses, not a reason to hold every Ith indefinitely. Check the item and your character's needs before using a socket.
Is Ith used to make Stealth
No. Stealth requires Tal and Eth in a two-socket body armor. It's a useful early Runeword because its ingredients are accessible and its bonuses help while you're leveling, but Ith does not belong in the recipe. Put the runes into the correct sockets in the correct order; the armor must also be a valid base for the Runeword.
This distinction matters if you're sorting a stash after a few runs. Tal and Eth are the pieces to set aside for Stealth. Ith can stay in your rune tab until you decide whether to socket it, use it toward a later recipe, or trade it. Don't let the similar-looking names turn a simple armor upgrade into a wasted pair of sockets.
Should you keep or use an Ith Rune
For a fresh character, keeping one is a sensible choice if you have space. Its direct socket effects are niche, while its place in Enigma gives it a later use. Still, you don't need to treat every low rune as a prized drop. If your current gear has an open socket and the added effect solves a real problem, using Ith can be more useful than saving it for an item you may never assemble.
Before committing it, check your other recipes and equipment plans. Rune value changes with your progress: a spare Ith may be easy to replace, while a missing piece in a recipe can stall a project. If you're filling out a build and need gear beyond what this rune can provide, compare options for buy D2R Items. For the immediate leveling step, though, remember the key point: Stealth uses Tal and Eth, and Ith is a separate, modestly useful rune.
