The 2023 release date for Diablo 4 Gold inching ever closer, Blizzard has been slowly but surely revealing the plot of the coming expansion to the beloved franchise. The gaming giant has revealed that the characters of Diablo 4 will continue the story of Diablo 3. While the game's main villain is confirmed to be the Daughter of Hatred, Lilith, there has been quite a lot of information on the game's story that is yet to be disclosed. One such concern is the return of characters who have been featured throughout the game, such as the ever-helpful researcher Deckard Cain.

Players of the Diablo series know Cain as the "Elder of Tristram,' the main element of the first Diablo game. He has appeared on every game since the same way in some way. In the original Diablo, Cain was an NPC who was within the village and offered assistance to heroes along their journey. Unfortunately, he passed away in the middle in Diablo 3. so seeing the wise old man from Diablo 3 in the upcoming Diablo 4 gameplay is unlikely however it is worthwhile to read his tale in anticipation of the game's release.

Deckard Cain, a Horadric scholar who is well-versed in the lore of Sanctuary and its esoteric history. It is also believed to be the last Horadrim, a cult made up of wizards and mages by the archangel Tyrael to combat the three Primitive Evils - the Lord Destruction Baal as well as the Lord of Hatred Mephisto, and the titular Diablo, The Lord of Terror. In the year 1202. Deckard was born and was raised at Tristram, the Sanctuary Village of Tristram to a tanner-looking father and his maternal grandmother, Aderes Cain, who insisted that Deckard take after her family's legacy and take the Cain name, rather than that of his father. As a teenager, he as well as the other children of Tristram would be gathered around Aderes when she would tell tales of the great deeds of the Horadrim which she was a descendant of.

Growing up, Deckard was proud of his background as the son of a Horadrim and often boasted about being the 'last from the Horadrim.' Deckard longed to live up to his legacy as Horadrim. Horadrim by overcoming evil and protecting everyone who lived from Caldeum all the way to Khanduras in the honor of justice. But, when Deckard was devastated by the loss of his father to illness things began to take on a downward spiral and his trust in his mother started to decline.

He was always a scholarly kind and, when he wasn't playing with his dog or stealing eggs, he'd gather histories books. Desperate to escape, Aderes made the decision to destroy all these books because she feels the only 'proper reading' was those written by Deckard's ancestral ancestor, Jered Cain. The result was that he became disinterested in his mother's tales believing they were just fables, especially that of the existence of demons and  cheap Diablo IV Gold angels - - a notion that did not last in Diablo. Deckard left his home, and his mother declared him 'lost..'
